All benefit payments are now issued electronically. If you have not yet switched to an electronic method, your payments may be held or delayed until you set one up.

You have two options to receive your benefits:

  • Direct Deposit: Have your funds sent straight to your standard bank account.
  • Direct Express® Prepaid Debit Card: If you do not have a bank account, you must enroll in this program to receive your funds.

Can I still receive paper checks?

Exceptions to the electronic rule are extremely rare. You may only request a waiver to continue receiving paper checks if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are over the age of 104.
  • You have a severe mental impairment.
  • You live in a highly remote area without access to electronic banking.
